Who is responsible for your information?

Karla Brink, an online fine art and sculpture business trading as Karla Brink, is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. For privacy questions or requests, email hi@karlabrink.com or call 064 540 8773.

Information we collect

When you enquire, we receive the details you submit, such as your name, email address, optional telephone number and location, and your message or commission preferences. Orders and customer accounts contain the contact, billing, delivery and purchase information you provide. Required fields are identified on the relevant form; without them we may be unable to respond or process an order.

The website also uses technical information needed to operate and protect the service, including IP addresses, browser information, session identifiers and server logs.

How we use it

We use your details to answer enquiries, discuss commissions, manage customer accounts, process orders, arrange agreed fulfilment, handle returns and provide customer support. We also use relevant records for security, fraud prevention, record keeping and legal obligations.

Processing is based on the steps needed to respond to your request or perform an agreement, applicable legal obligations, legitimate interests where permitted by law, or your consent where required. Sending an enquiry or placing an order does not subscribe you to a marketing newsletter.

Service providers and external links

Authorised people supporting the business and website may access information needed for their work. Relevant details may be processed by our website hosting and email service providers, professional advisers, payment providers when you make a payment, and The Courier Guy when delivery is arranged. Disclosure may also be required by law. We do not sell customer contact information.

If a service provider processes information outside South Africa, the transfer must have an appropriate basis and protection under POPIA. When you choose a WhatsApp or other external link, that service processes information under its own privacy terms. Avoid sending identity documents, financial credentials or other sensitive details in an ordinary enquiry.

Cookies and saved selections

WordPress, WooCommerce and the wishlist use cookies or similar browser storage to support login, security, your shopping cart and saved artwork selections. Some cookies last for a browsing session and others persist so these features can remember you. You can clear or block them through your browser; doing so may remove saved selections or prevent account and checkout features from working correctly.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this website and to improve its content. Analytics records information such as pages visited, traffic sources, general location, browser and device information, and website interactions. Google may use cookies or browser identifiers and receive technical information, including your IP address, when providing this service. Our Analytics setup does not intentionally send enquiry-form contents or customer account details to Google Analytics.

No advertising or newsletter tracking is configured by Karla Brink. You can learn how Google uses information from partner websites and use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent Analytics from using information about your visits in a supported browser.

Retention and security

Records are kept for as long as they are needed to handle enquiries and orders, maintain an account, resolve disputes or meet applicable legal and record-keeping obligations. Records may be retained where the law requires it even after an account is closed. Contact us to ask about retention or request deletion of information that is no longer needed.

We use reasonable access and technical safeguards to protect personal information. No online service can promise absolute security. If a security compromise affects your information, we will take the steps and provide the notifications required by applicable law.

Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask whether we hold your personal information, request access or correction, ask for deletion of information that is inaccurate or no longer lawfully required, object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Withdrawal does not invalidate earlier lawful processing. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing personal information.
