About the Artwork
A reclining, hand-modelled lioness stretches across a blue stand, with one foreleg extending over the edge. The hollow ceramic sculpture is individually built from slabs, creating a flowing arrangement of body, limbs and curled tail. Hand-painted underglaze and glaze distinguish the pale lioness from her colourful base. Each piece is handmade and twice fired.
Meet the subject
Meet Nala, who knows how to make the most of a shaded resting place in Zululand. She stretches out beside the pride, looking thoroughly at ease, although a nearby sound may still earn a turn of her ear. As evening approaches, she becomes more attentive: the cooler hours bring a different pace to her day.
Each piece is handmade in Zululand, so slight variations in colour, size and finish are part of its unique character. Small imperfections reflect the care and human touch behind every creation. Turnaround times will be discussed when you place your order. Your piece will be thoughtfully packaged with care and shipped straight to your door.
